A Journey into a Fairy World

Once again, Netflix has released another of their teen drama series. Coming this year on January 22nd, a fiction, fantasy TV show called “Fate: The Winx Saga”. Based on the Nickelodeon animated series “Winx Club”. The Winx Saga, it’s all about fairies attending a magical boarding school in the Otherworld called “Alfea” where they must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries and the monsters that threaten their very existence. Following five different fairies, each one with their own and unique power. We have a fire fairy, water fairy, mind fairy, earth fairy, and last but not least a light fairy.

Bloom, the main character, is identified as the ‘fire fairy’. She lives in California and has American parents who don’t know anything about her magic, therefore, she must go to the otherworld and attend boarding school for fairies like her. She needs to learn how to control her powers in order to defend herself properly and not harm anyone. Since she’s the only one new to the otherworld and the first one to have “human parents” everyone sees her different from the others. Something big is hidden from her, and she desperately wants to find out about it.

Bloom meets this very handsome and charming boy named Sky. Though he’s not a fairy, he is a warrior who trains to fight against the monsters outside the barrier called “The burnt ones”. Pretty strange isn’t it? Well, The Burnt Ones are the one creature who can kill a fairy. If one of them harms a fairy, they will automatically be intoxicated and will die. But the only way to prevent the intoxication from spreading even more all over their body is to kill the burnt one who touched them. Now, that’s a little difficult because they are not easy to eliminate, it requires a lot of strength and power.

As mentioned before, the boarding school has a barrier around it. This is to protect all fairies and warriors from the creatures. If any fairy dares to cross the barrier, they are putting themselves in danger of getting attacked by a Burnt One. Bloom passes the barrier without even knowing what’s out there, she goes to practice magic and everything goes well until she starts losing it and almost burnt everything that was around her. Luckily for her, Aisha (water fairy) stopped Bloom from burning anything else.

Although this TV series only has 6 episodes and 1 season, it’s already official that a second season is yet to come. Last episode shocked us all, and since no one likes spoilers, is it worth watching? Well, this show has 9,791 ratings and it’s a total of 4.2 out of 5 stars. Some people would say it’s a kids show, but the language spoken isn’t the most educational one for younger children. In conclusion, this would be a good option to watch whenever you are bored, teens from 13 to 17 years old would be the most eligible ones to watch the series.
