The classic game Clash of Clans, made by Supercell was released on August 2nd, 2012, so now it’s over 10 years old! Every great game has to have an expert guide. The strategy on how to proceed and progress through the town halls will be explained in this guide.

For anyone that doesn’t know, the mobile game creates an environment where you upgrade your village as you progress through the town hall levels. You can even attack other players’ bases to get a hefty loot bonus. It all starts with the tutorial where goblins attack your base. You have to build a cannon to protect your town hall. BOOM, BOOM, POW, BOOM!

All the goblins are now dead, then the game takes you into an attack. If you win you will get 500 gold and 500 elixirs, which is a good start for swift progression. In Clash of Clans, there are 3 types of materials: Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir (which you unlock later on). There are also gems that you can buy or earn within the game to help your base upgrade faster. There are a few ways to play Clash of Clans, but these are the main two, upgrading everything step-by-step or by rushing.

When you upgrade everything, that means you’ll be fully maxed out before upgrading your town hall to the next level. Rushing is the complete opposite; you mostly only upgrade the town hall and only a few of your defenses, as well as your resource buildings.

Also, in Clash of Clans, available after Town Hall 4, you unlock the builder base. It’s a new exciting land, where there are new resources, new buildings, defenses, and even new troops.

“Clash of Clans takes time to play. Upgrades can take from a few minutes to days,” said student Manor Pinel. “Upgrading resources early, like your storages and collectors are very important. It’s smart because the more loot you earn the more you can upgrade and level up.”

Clash of Clans is all about progression, and Manor’s tips make the process faster. One of the best tips given to new players is to always have your builders working. It can be a waste of time if your builders aren’t doing much. With the long upgrade times, this is a crucial factor for fast progress. Another main part of Clash of Clans is the different groups you can join with other players, otherwise known as Clans. You can join a clan or create one with your friends and meet new people. In a clan, you can request troops and discuss war strategies among your fellow clan mates.

“Being in clans with your friends helps you get better as they do too,” senior Douglas Rosen stated. “I also started playing a lot more because staying active helps you improve your account.”
