The 2023-2024 golf season has started, and it’s gonna be a ‘bang.’
Coral Glades has won their first 2 matches against St. Thomas Aquinas (by 1 stroke!) and against Coral Springs Charter, which we absolutely destroyed by like 30 strokes!
The Coral Glades golf team consists of 5 boys, and 1 girl. James Transue, Justin Laing, Carter Brooks, Brayden Peeler, me, Noah Rosen, and of course our team manager Ishaan Samlal, who unfortunately couldn’t play this season due to an injury. Shannon Glynn is representing our Glades’ girls golf team.
Our Coach was really excited for the season, here’s what he had to say following our win against St. Thomas. “So we originally thought we tied St. Thomas yesterday 167-167, which is nice!” said Coach Jarrod Transue. “But turns out, we did even better. I put scores in, Brayden added wrong. We won 166-167!”
The team was hyped after a nice win against a great team.
Glades’ next match was against Coral Springs Charter for a second time and Macarthur High school. Macarthur only had one golfer on their team. The match was actually really exciting. “I got paired up with my teammate Carter Brooks this time, who I felt I played a lot better with” Said Noah Rosen. “I shot 2 over par through 7 holes.”
Unfortunately, our match got canceled due to bad weather, so the scores were not totaled.
The local newspaper ‘Coral Springs Talk’ gave us an article feature, titled “Coral Glades Boys Golf begins season with dramatic win.” Writer Matt Rothman basically talked about what everyone shot and how everyone played. Rothman also continued and said, “Coral Glades will return on Tuesday, September 5, against Piper High School.”

Coral Glades had their match against Piper on the fifth, and it was a blow out. Justin Laing led the way shooting +1, then Carter Brooks was behind him at +3. Brayen Peeler played pretty good, at +3 as well. James Transue and I held up the rear with a +9, and +8. Overall a decent match.
Overall the Coral Glades golf program is looking promising. We have won all of our matches, 5 for 5 and going strong. On September 7th, Glades has a match against Western High School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Hopefully we can secure the win.
