Rumors going around, accusing Rod Wave of “stealing” other artist’s lyrics.
There have been multiple lyrics found in his songs that are the exact same in other artists’ music.
For example in his song “Thug Motivation”, there is a verse that says “and nobody told me the road would be easy, I can’t believe I made it this far” those lyrics were also found in the song “Can’t Give Up Now” by Mary Mary.
Many think that Rod Wave steals music, but what he actually does is sample them! Rod is a well known artist for sampling music. Many, young and old who are a part of the music industry all sample and reuse the same songs, but would rather pin point Rod because of his platform.
Fans have noticed songs of his that sounded very familiar and brought it to social media platforms such as; Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok!
Arguments from fans and non-fans state that this is just a case of “interpolation”. Meaning nobody should point fingers at Rod because sampling music has been a part of the music industry for over 50 years
Rod himself has stated that he does this, and he gets permission for sampling other’s music.
Fans bringing this moment to social media caused the well known rapper Boosie Badazz wanting to file a lawsuit against Rod Wave. This lawsuit revolves around Rod’s new song “Long Journey”. Boosie stated that Rod stole not only his lyrics, but along with the title of the song as well.
After asking High School students how they feel about the situation, “Boosie doesn’t even own his version of long journey, so I don’t know why he’s going crazy about Rod sampling it.” says Kimoralyn Jackson, Junior.
“Rod was in the wrong for using his melody without getting it cleared or asking for permission, but Boosie took it entirely too far by dissing him when Rod offered to pay him.” says O’Riyan Clark, Senior
Boosie making a diss track on Rod Wave seems as if he just wants to have internet beef.
Rod, being the bigger person in the situation wanted to let go of any altercation and pay Boosie, but Boosie went live on instagram playing a diss track he made claiming he “raised everybody” because other artists allegedly took parts of his music as well.
In conclusion, Boosie still wants to file a lawsuit against Rod for using his song without his permission.
