Not knowing what content to post can lead to you wanting to give up. Although it can be fun vlogging about your life, inspiring others to chase their dreams, and also finding their true selves; That can come with hate, judgment, and a lot of negative people commenting on your videos to bring you down.
When becoming a content creator, you tend to compare yourself to others. For example; “Why don’t I have as many likes, comments, and views as this person?” “Do people not like the content I post?” “When am I going to go viral?”
Making videos seems very fun, but when it comes to trying to make new content every day and trying to be different from others that is where you can crash.
Everyone tends to repeat the same trends, and when you do it, you don’t get the same attention as them.
The amount of time, energy, and confidence it takes to be a content creator can also be a struggle.
“I think it could be stressful to see all the hate and still be confident enough to push through and keep creating videos” says Renaja Rolle, Sophomore
Creating content can make a huge impact on your mental health. How you may ask? The amount of pressure gets put on you, realizing that making content is an actual job, and having to put a lot of extra work into your videos to make sure you attract the right audience.
When becoming a content creator, it is so much easier to give up. Especially when you don’t have any idea what to post!
According to a junior student, Davarrian Thomas “The pressure to still put a smile on your face and continue to show up happy when it’s time to film, can mess up your mental health. It can also be very overwhelming.”
“Yes it may be stressful, but I love watching the content that people post!” says Kimoralyn Jackson, Junior
The guilty feeling of wanting to take a break also takes a toll on your mental health, when all we’re doing is trying to “find the balance”. To solve these problems, stick to your target audience! Don’t try to do what everyone else is doing because it may not be for you.
Another way is to not focus on social media too much! Trying to scope out what others are doing will in fact stress you out!
Lastly, take a break. Taking a break will help clear your mind, give you time to make schedules for vlogging, but most importantly connect with friends and family to take your focus off of social media!
And that’s all for the influencer city news, thanks for tuning in!
