The National Football League in the United States holds an annual league championship game called the Super Bowl. Since 1966, it has taken the place of the NFL Championship Game as the last game of each NFL season.
The game has taken place on the second Sunday of February for a long time. Previous Super Bowls took place on Sundays in the late and early 1900’s and 2000’s, early to mid-January in the early 67’s and 80’s, and the first Sunday of February from the early 2000’s.
The Vince Lombardi Trophy, named for the coach of the same name who won the first two Super Bowls, is given to the winning teams.
Sunday kicked off Super Bowl 58, although it was considered the Super Bowl that no one wanted. We got a Chiefs and 49ers Super Bowl, and although we wanted a different outcome, we still got a thriller.
Super Bowl 58 was one of the most viewed Super Bowls ever, although it was considered to be the most boring and the one that no one wanted, with 123 million people tuning in.
This was mainly because of Taylor Swift, but also because of the Super Bowl halftime show, with Usher Performing and Alicia Keys and H.E.R. being featured during this time.
The game was entertaining, with it being a close game almost the entire 3rd and 4th quarter.
The first quarter started with a bang with the Niners having a 10-point lead at halftime and then losing that advantage when the Chiefs went on the score 10 points on drives that the Niners could have scored points on.
Gabriela Miranda, freshman, says, “The game was fun to watch, but I was only watching because of Taylor Swift”.
Manor Pniel, junior says “ I really wanted the Niners to win because I just don’t like Patrick Mahomes and then how they added Taylor Swift this year and how they gave her so much screen time during the season rather than the actual games, but it’s okay there’s always next year so we will see what happens next”.
This years Super Bowl was surely entertaining, I can’t wait to see what happens next year in Louisiana
