As the Girl’s lacrosse season comes to a close, we celebrate our seniors that have put all of their hard work into making sure that every game that they have played has been their very best in their whole High School athletic career.
Many may ask what exactly is senior night and what it is about. Well, Senior Night is a highly anticipated tradition for young high school athletes as it marks the end of their youth sports career. It typically takes place during the last home game of the sports season.
During Senior Night, the students and their parents gather on the court or field to celebrate and recognize the seniors in front of their fans, teammates, and coaches. The seniors receive posters, balloons, flowers, and gifts from their parents, teammates, coaches, and friends. It’s a joyful and touching time to honor the seniors’ achievements athletically over the last four years.
Maddie Perez, Senior, said, “This year was my first and last year of being team captain, and it’s very bittersweet, to have seen all of these beautiful girls that I call my friends and teammates grow so much throughout the season. Also, seeing all the hard work they have put in, it means so much to me even though I might not be able to be there next season. I know they will be great.”
For seniors, it’s an emotional time as they celebrate and play their last game with their teammates whom they’ve been playing with for years. It’s an emotional moment as it marks the end of their high school and sometimes sports career.
Nissie Cadette, a Sophomore, said, “This is my first year playing, and to be honest, I’m so happy I joined. The girls are so great and I feel at home with them. Not only that but this is my first year also experiencing a senior night, all I can say I can’t wait for my senior night.”
Senior Night is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to wish the seniors well in their future endeavors. It’s a chance to show them how much they will be missed and how proud their school and team are of their accomplishments.
As senior year comes to a close, we wish all our Senior athletes the best on their next journey after high school.
