Dear High school,
The past four years have been a rough and rocky journey, but a good one. From fake friends to Failing grades, we went through it all and finally here we are, in the end, we made it. Coral Glades, thank you for the wonderful times and opportunities that you have given me and for allowing me to learn and grow from them. Thank you for the football games, spirit weeks, pep rallies, homecoming, and the rest of the fun activities you offered. Teachers, I appreciate the time and support you have spent to get us to where we are today.
To incoming freshmen, please please please don’t throw opportunities away left and right, I know it can seem stressful and hard but in the end all the hard work you put in will count by the end. Oh and enjoy yourself, it is true when they say it goes by in the blink of an eye. Go to the football games, do your homework, be respectful towards your teachers and classmates, and most importantly have fun.
Another good thing about school was the Newspaper. Newspaper was amazing, it gave me the freedom to improve my writing while getting to write about things that I found interesting and enjoyed. The students and “Staff” are honestly amazing and so welcoming. I had fun and I will treasure these experiences for the upcoming years of my life.
Juniors becoming seniors HAVE FUN, it’s your last year of high school!! Don’t take this year for granted because every minute counts. Do not spend your time worrying about who said what or why. Make sure you keep up with your grades and attendance, you have made it this far and it would be so disappointing to see it all go to waste. Say hi to that one person you never had the confidence to become friends with, tell your teachers thank you, go to all the senior activities, and don’t be cheap!! The college process can be quite stressful and scary but just know you will end up where you are meant to be. Now I won’t lie, it isn’t all fun and games. The early morning and late nights will get to you at times. The drama will follow you like there is no tomorrow. Friends will come and go and NEVER ask how the food in the cafeteria is made.
Lacrosse, thank you so so so much for everything you have done for me. You pulled me out of a rot that I thought would be never-ending. You got me excited about college (Go Suffolk Rams!!) I gained amazing lifelong friendships and support and I will forever be grateful for it.
Last but not least, Freshman me. We are here and we did it. No matter how many late assignments, missed classes, lost friendships and relationships, or fake people, we did it. I’m incredibly proud of you and how far we have made it. It seemed impossible but we pulled through and made it out alive. Thank you High School.
Much love,
Maddie Pelaez
