My Breakup With High School

My+Breakup+With+High+School

Dear High School Experience,

I can’t believe that you went by super fast, I’m about to end this stage of my life, and I think it’s a mix of feelings, I feel sad to stop seeing my friends every day, laughing with them always and afraid for the future but I know that incredible things await me, but it was a super nice stage, where I met incredible people, I learned many things.

I haven’t been here since freshman year, I arrived at the end of my sophomore year, I remember when I arrived. I was super nervous, I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t speak English very well because I came from Peru and everything was new to me. A new culture, making new friends but it was worth it. Now I am a different person than the person who arrived in sophomore year, I learned a lot and now I have my friends who I met here. They always helped me in everything and I am super grateful to them.

One piece of advice I would give to the juniors who are going to be seniors is to enjoy their last year as much as possible, time flies, and the minute you least expect it you are on your last day saying goodbye to everyone. I remember my first day, I went to have breakfast with my friends and then we went to school. I was excited about my classes and seeing what people I had been with.

One of those classes was a newspaper, and without a doubt one of the best classes, I made new friends. I feel that this class helped me a lot, I was able to practice my English better by writing each article. Sometimes I run out of ideas but the classes are super cool, and so are the people.

What I thought was a great experience and I was able to live it. I am very grateful to Miss Hodge, for this experience, going to Boston.

It was one of the most fun trips I had, I was able to get to know more people in the class, and everyone was super funny, it was only 5 days but the trip was worth it and they are incredible memories that I will remember for my entire life. It made my senior year much better.

At Coral Glades They have many activities, such as homecomings, spirit weeks, pep rallies, and games, it is one of the things that I will always remember, in my junior year I went to homecoming and it was a nice experience

One of the things that I focused the most on was learning English better, my group of friends all speak Spanish, and well that way it’s more difficult to learn if I don’t practice it, but with the classes in English and I’ve been here for two years I was able to learn it and speak it, obviously I don’t speak it fluently but I can now have a conversation and understand everything, also one of the things I recommend is to have good grades since freshman year, try to take honors classes or AP and thus be able to raise your GPA and reach senior year without worries.

Not everything is nice in high school, just as I met incredible people, I also met bad people and I feel that it is part of life, you are not always going to meet good people, but that teaches you not to trust people too much until you know them better. At first, the school was difficult for me, everything was in English, and passing all the requirements to graduate was also difficult, but I never gave up and after so many attempts I was finally able to pass everything in my junior year. I was happy because, with a lot of effort, I was able to achieve it.

And to finish this letter, I want to say that I am very grateful for experiencing all this, something new for me, I take with me many beautiful memories and incredible people whom I was able to meet, juniors, enjoy your senior year very much, go to all the activities, and I know that sometimes it is lazy to go to school every day but time flies and when you least expect it you are on your last day, enjoy your last year very much!

Sincerely, Kiara Gomez
