The novel and movie feature themes concerning domestic violence. Viewers can only assume that this is being taken very seriously by production and cast. Blake Lively plays the main protagonist Lily Bloom in the movie It Ends With Us.
Bloom is a severe victim of domestic violence issued by long-term boyfriend Ryle Kincaid played by Justin Baldoni. Viewers of the movie are concerned that Lively has not been taking the movie’s message seriously.
Old interviews and press have been coming out of Lively being controversial to other castmates, as well as journalists, which led to Lively not taking the topic of domestic violence seriously bringing shame to domestic violence victims.
Colleen Hoover, author of the novel “It Ends With Us” has already received backlash for her past books, she loses respect within the romance book community with the recent events concerning Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
“I don’t like her very much considering all the press that’s been releasing of her being rude to interviewers and other castmates,” says Tatiana Jimenez, a sophomore. “I also didn’t seem to enjoy the film as well.” Shame has been sent to Baldoni by main actress Blake Lively, it’s widely known that Lively does not currently follow any of Baldoni’s social media which has brought attention and raised questions and attention as to why main protagonists are not seen photographed together in any press nor interviews. Justin Baldioni has seemed to make it his mission to make sure that survivors of domestic violence are seen and heard since he’s been cast as abuser Ryle Kincaid.
“I don’t think it’s hard to simply speak on a serious topic especially when you’re actively promoting it and when people in those real-life scenarios are going through it,” says Queenie Augustin, freshman.
He’s not only spoken out at movie premieres but he encourages women in the situation of Lily Bloom, giving hope to victims that it will end eventually. While he provides hotlines on his social media, Lively has been promoting her recent hair brand release, it may even seem to viewers who visit her social media that she does not star in the recent movie “It Ends With Us.” Considering these recent events, Blake Lively is in the wrong and she might face backlash for them.
