Money is a costly resource that is infinite yet limited. None is more limited than the school budget.
School budget is a widely debatable topic, mostly notably for how very little is applied to the school. In a sense, school is considered to be the underrated side of government spending.
Meanwhile, the government directs more money to politics and sports without caring about tomorrow’s population. However, the reason may seem more vile than one may expect.
The federal government has little say since state governments are given the majority of power to education. So, they make sure which schools to invest in through student origin and population.
The government ensures the family of the student is wealthy for the school in which they go to. If the student is of a lower class, the budget would decrease. This alongside the quantity of students provides power to make sure which states receive higher budgets.
Sadly, schools in poverty don’t get enough care due to the lack of wealthy families of students. The government provides more budget and thus more power into high-income events or uprisings.
Most notably, the annual Super Bowl is the most popular event in sports and due to profits given from the event, it stays active and thus receives the majority of the government’s attention alongside budget. Alongside politics, which receive much attention due to controversies given in their area, receive the most attention from the government, likewise to sports, the highest budget.
However, schooling doesn’t receive much attention due to little income given. The government determines its pricing from a very statistical level perspective. As a result, school budgets alongside other known pricing such as homes, depending on their local area, don’t receive nearly as much attention.
If budgets were distributed not from level of income but from level of importance, priority, and evaluation would serve as the ideal solution. If given importance, the government could provide budgets to areas in which complaints are given alongside evaluation of said importance could provide an equal opportunity to all issues in the U.S. and State-specific issues.
While schools are most affected, by far students are given the largest impact. Students share their thoughts on school budget-related issues.
Shanon Glynn, a sophomore says, “Like it doesn’t affect me specifically, but it does affect others. Yeah, it could be directed to school lunch, maybe make it more nutritious.” “If the government doesn’t lower budgets in education, the lower the experience for students becomes.” Fausto Shiguil, a senior says.
While repetitive, change can be made to the government’s system through determination and activity. If students, teachers, and all who struggle or struggled with school-related issues take a stand, the government will hear their voices. It’s only a matter of time, all we the people have to do is rise for a better tomorrow.
