Homecoming season is so exciting for many reasons. The spirit week leading up to the game and the dance. Spirit week leading up is so fun. Dressing up to all the themes makes the week so much better. Like this week for our school the themes are dupe day, dress as your type, western Wednesday, nerds vs jocks, and class colors. For the homecoming game, it is on Friday, the day before homecoming.
Our homecoming is on Saturday, September 14th. For homecoming dresses, most people go to local malls to buy their dresses. For example, a popular store where people buy their dresses from is Windsor. The only issue with getting a dress from there is so many people go there, and you have the issue with someone having the same dress as you. Windsor is in almost every mall too.
Getting your dress in a mall is fun because you get to try on all the dresses in so many different colors and all different styles. You can try on glitter or plain, rainbow, or solid colors. This is a good way to see what colors you like and what colors look best on you. For example, certain colors look better on certain skin shades. Like if you have an olive undertone bright pink, red, or brown and they would look great on you, and you wouldn’t know unless you tried it on. A great alternative option to getting a dress in person but not at a fast fashion is boutiques.
For example, if you go to a boutique most of the time it is a small business and only a few shops so it would almost guarantee that no one would have your dress. This idea isn’t perfect though. Most boutiques have limited selection and sizes because it is a small business. The other issue is that the prices are usually high due to the fact that it is a small business, and most clothing items can be made by hand and not in a factory like how fast fashion is made. A quote from Jewel Dezard, “I prefer to get my dress at a boutique because the dresses are good quality, and I like the fact that not a ton of people will have my dress.”
The other alternative to getting a dress would be to buy it online. There are thousands of clothing websites where you can buy dresses from. This option gives you so many choices to choose from in all colors and sizes. There are issues with this though. If you don’t order your dress in time it won’t arrive on time, and you won’t have a dress for your homecoming. A quote from Sarah Singh, “I prefer to get my dress online, so I have a ton of options to choose from.” My two quotes show that everyone has a different opinion and are both valid.
