The Victoria’s Secret 2024 fashion show is taking place in Brooklyn, New York on October 15. This is going to be the show’s first appearance ever since 2018, which was canceled due to a lack of viewers. This fashion show features the materials of the lingerie and sleepwear brand, Victoria’s Secret.
The brand was founded in 1977 by Roy Raymond. Most women are familiar with this brand, and having a fashion show is a good way to have even more women become familiar with it. While the brand was founded in 1977, the first-ever fashion show took place in 1995 at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
Since 2018, the show has been canceled, but the brand announced the return of the show on May 15, 2024, via Instagram. Another exciting announcement is that Cher, an American singer, and actress, will be headlining and leading an all-women lineup of performers. Referring to Cher in the show, the company wrote, “It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself- Cher!”
The performers for the 2024 fashion show including Cher are Tyla and Lisa from Blackpink. Tyla is a South African singer who recently won her first Grammy award for Best African Music Performance for her hit single ‘Water’. The last performer is Lisa, a Thai rapper, singer, and dancer who is a member of the Korean girl group called Blackpink.
All these female artists bring a diverse flavor to music all around the world and that proves how fit they are to perform in this returning fashion show. “Tyla is an amazing singer and I love how different her music is and it is very fun to listen to.”, Sophia Clavero, a freshman said. People love and appreciate the style Tyla brings which makes her a perfect candidate to perform at the fashion show.
While performances are exciting and fun to watch, there would be no point in the fashion show without the models. Models like Gigi Hadid and Tyra Banks will be on the runway with their Victoria’s Secret wear. Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Paloma Elsesser, Taylor Hill, Devyn Garcia, and Mayowa Nicholas are other models who are rumored to walk in the show.
“Models wear the products really well on the runway and that definitely helps sell the brand because of how much work they put into making the shows enjoyable.”, Rihanna Edwards, a freshman said.
These models have made an impact on the lingerie-loving brand even when the show was canceled. Because of their devotion to the lingerie-loving brand, Victoria’s Secret is why the fashion show is something big to look forward to.
