The United States Presidential Election rears its head and in under a month too! Taking place on Tuesday, November 5th. The scene has really turned insane, and it’s important to cover just what on earth has happened before the day arrives.

First off, current President, Joe Biden, dropped out of his reelection bid. Now, he didn’t want to do this, in fact, when he was challenged by critics and members of his own party, they targeted his age and mental faculties.

This mainly stems from Biden’s slip-ups and gaffs, for example, in 2022 during Biden’s 60-minute interview with CBS reporter Scott Pelley, Pelley asked “How is your mental focus” and Biden responded with “Oh focused. *Laughing* I’d say it’s, it is, I haven’t – here, look. I have trouble even mentioning, saying to myself, in my head, the number of years. I no more think of myself as old as I am than fly.”

Even so, he intended to keep running, which would be true, if it wasn’t for the 2nd Trump and Biden debate. In short terms, it was universally agreed upon that Joe Biden had to go, so when he announced that he wasn’t seeking the democratic nomination anymore.

So at the 11th hour, the DNC basically just chose Kamala Harris as their new pick, mainly without consulting the rest of the democratic voter base. Kamala does enjoy a similar if not more popular lead, according to the New York Times, she leads Trump with a 49% to his 46%. That is a fragile lead which can change very quickly if one or the other candidate screws it up.

Also a massive change, Robert F. Kennedy JR dropped out and endorsed Donald Trump for President. While this does seem like a massive shock, considering RFK’s movement (he calls it a movement, but it’s exactly the same as a political party), We the People were founded on the principle of challenging the status quo, that being the duopoly of Republicans and Democrats.

On news about Trump, he almost got assassinated, twice. One in a Pennsylvania rally, and one at his Mar-a-Lago home on his golf course. The first one actually hit him in the ear, but it did give him sympathy by his entire fan base, as well as one of the most insane photos in American history.

Some other minor news is that Kamala also has her new Vice President pick, Tim Walz, a former marine that lied about going to Iraq and instead was deployed to Italy. Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, splitting her fanbase. Finally, Trump’s VP pick JD Vance criticised childless cat ladies.

As always, it’s important to ask people on the ground what they think about the election. Braydon Sloboda in the 11th grade said “I think everyone should vote so we have a better understanding of what the public wants” Faisal Noor also in the 11th grade said, “Whoever wins it’s going to be an interesting four years.”

In conclusion, whatever happens, all candidates need to do is not humiliate America in front of the world than what’s already happened. It would be nice if no other candidates come under threat of assassination, it’s not good for a democratic nation.
