When parents, relatives, or strangers are advising you they say do what you love, find your passion. Or they say find a job that pays you well. You start to feel overwhelmed and question if you should follow your passion or that career path you want to take.
A lot of people decide their future career based on the amount of money you’ll make and the career progression. Money should not be the only thing you pursue. You should not just look at a job and say, I want to go after that job because of how much money I make.
But is money important? Most definitely. We live in a life where we have bills. Think about if that does align with what you want to do? Financial aspect is incredibly important but it should not be the sole reason why you pick a certain career. Don’t go into the career because you think you will make good money, you’ll be miserable. Siena Franiuk says, “If you don’t take a job that gives good money you are not going to have a good lifestyle. If you want to provide for your future family you’re not going to be able to because of the career you chose. But at the end of the day do what you love and something you like.
Don’t go into nursing because it’s quicker compared to other job’s. Don’t go into medicine just because you think you’ll make a lot of money. It is not worth it to pursue something just for the money. The money should help, but you should pick something smart.
You can go into medical school because of the money and status but if you don’t really like it you’ll realize you spent all your life doing something that you didn’t really like from the beginning. That is not a life you want to live in. Pick a job that you are good at. That you enjoy and care about, and that also has decent money. It doesn’t have to be the best money but it can have decent money. Vescna Arca states, “You should do it for yourself because you want to be a professional and know something. People say do it for the money money money! Then you end up choosing a career just for the money and then you realize you don’t really know what you are doing. “
Once you get a stable income you should work on things that you would do for free. What would you do for free? Keep doing that, and maybe whatever you do for free can become your main source of income. But until then pick something that you’re good at, that you enjoy, and you care about.
