We have all heard the saying if you look good you feel good, but is this statement true? Does what you wear actually have an effect on how your day goes or even what mood you would be in that day? If you ask me I think it does, if I’m just rolling out the bed and coming to school of course I’m not going to be in the mood to learn anything. It just shows that I don’t really care about my appearance and just came to school because I have to.
Taking the time to get ready in the mornings shows that I’m getting prepared for school which makes me want to put the effort in when I get to school. This doesn’t mean you get up hours before school starts to get ready, you can get up just an hour before school to put in an effort in your appearance. This would have a positive impact on your day at school because you’re setting the mood for the entire day.
I asked a fellow student there at Coral Glades if how they dress at school affects their mood and this is what Jade Smith freshman had to say for me: how I look at school shows the mood I’m in. To ensure that I have a good day I take extra time in the mornings to make sure I feel my best.
But others have other thoughts on this matter and think what you wear doesn’t have anything to do with your mood. That it’s just clothing and you’re the one in control of your emotions. I could just throw clothes on in the morning and it doesn’t affect how the rest of my day will go, says Nathan Brown junior.
There’s been research that suggests that colors can have an effect on you. For instance, warm bright colors stimulate happiness and energy. These would be the colors you would want to wear when coming to school, just looking at these colors brings happiness. So imagine that being the first thing you see when you get up your bound to have a good day.
Believe it or not, colors can even have an effect on your behavior, this is crazy to think about. You could choose how you will go just by what you put on in the morning.
Now that you have heard about all the effects what you wear can have on you, take just a few extra minutes in the morning to put effort into what you will be wearing. Don’t let an “I don’t care” attitude affect the rest of your day. This is something we can all work on to have a more productive day at school.
