Tyler Gregory Okonma otherwise known as Tyler the Creator is a well-known American rapper, producer, director, actor, and fashion designer. He is 33 years old, has won 2 Grammys, and has over 15 million followers on Instagram where his account is @feliciathegoat.
Recently Tyler the Creator announced his new album “Chromakopia” which is expected to be released on October 28, 2024. This announcement has fans speculating about the album’s meaning, and here are some of the theories that have been going around:
The first one is fans think this album is based on “The Phantom Tollbooth” They believe the album is based on the character “Chroma the Great” who is a conductor who creates the colors of the world. Tyler is well known for his bright colors throughout his career and the worlds he has created. They also believe his look is a clue and believe that this album will take them on a journey through Tyler’s new character.
He also has a few collaborators like Daniel Caesar who is featured on the album, and ScHoolboy Q who has shown support for the project online.
Sarah Jean-Bapiste a junior, stated, “I love Tyler the Creator and I feel like they really are digging in deep into what they believe I would say it makes sense for the album to be based on Chroma the Great Creator of colors, I mean after all he is Tyler the CREATOR!!”
In the teaser video titled “ST, Chroma” on October 16, 2024. Where it features Tyler wearing a face mask and walking through the desert ending with “CHROMAKOPIA” on a green backdrop. Fans speculate the meaning behind this video and some suggest that the album may be about an inner freedom journey.
Janari Cantave, a senior, stated, “I saw multiple theories on Tiktok about this new album and to be honest I don’t know what to believe. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”
Following this video skeptics believe “CHROMAKOPIA” could be the inverse of Igor as it also had a similar sound and a reverse color. To begin the 2nd theory we have to turn the word CHROMAKOPIA into chromophobia which means an intense fear of colors. We see a group of male people marching in black and white and just as they get to the CHROMAKOPIA container it explodes. This could mean that these men are either people who went through a breakup and never wanted to feel any other different emotions that could be referred to as colors or the opposite that they wanted those feelings and got the emotions and the colors appeared. And that could mean these men are about to enter the Igor cycle or escape it.
I guess we’ll have to wait until October 28th to find out!
