Everyone knows the popular film franchises like The Fast and The Furious, Scream, Disney movies, and Bad Boys, but does it get to the point of them making boring movies just for the money?
When discussing popular movie franchises most films that come to mind to people that may be in different generations have made several millions in revenue, not only because of the popularity among cast members or possibly directors but also with the fans that get accumulated within the making of the movie or when it gets presented in theaters and sells thousands of tickets when premiered.
“I genuinely feel like it gets to a point of, you made a great movie, you got a ton of money from it and it got very famous and popular very fast. There’s no need to make 8 more movies with almost the same villain plot every time. The production and directors just ruin it when they try to be extra and add new characters and get rid of the ones people love.” Queenie Augustin, a 9th grader.
The bright example of a movie franchise just continuing with a sequel just to make several millions off of it although, the budget rapidly went down from the previous movies is “The Fast and The Furious” which it making at least ten movies continuing with the same plot throughout the past movies but just adding new characters that do not contribute to the plot whatsoever.
With the tragic death of Hollywood star Paul Walker, his contribution to the Fast and Furious franchise is held in high regard by the fans of the film, it brings up the discussion of the results and reactions and reviews of the movie. Most reviews have stated that the film has gone down in quality or “Just does not hit the same” after the passing of Paul Walker.
So with the result of the passing, the making of the movie after the main character “Brian O’Conner” played by Paul Walker is plainly not necessary and is a prime example of film franchises continuing with several makings of movies just with a result of making millions.
“I think the making of sequels to certain movie franchises are good until they go off track to the original plot and get rid of the original characters that everyone likes and just replace them with new ones that just do not even add to any point or plot of the movie.” Said Tatiana Jimenez, a 10th grader.
It may be understandable when the request for new movies comes from die-hard movie fans of certain film franchises like Marvel, Disney, and D.C, but when movies like The Fast and The Furious are going to a point where they are going to the moon because they do not know what else to surround the plot around it shows how money hungry they are.
