In an era filled with easy access to the most vile parts of humanity, it’s challenging to avoid and protect one’s self. Notably, schools always receive the harshest treatment despite the intention to learn. Public schools especially are harmed through students and staff alike.
Students at a young age are exposed to lessons and subjects meant to be taught at a later age. Out of such exposure, students become rude and disrespectful, only growing if not nurtured with proper time and care.
As a result, students act as if they were criminals in an environment built on safety and learning. As a result, students treat staff and one another as if they were fugitives and not deserving of respect everyone should be deemable of.
As a result of the mistreatment of students from outside sources, teachers lose patience, and exposure towards students creates hate in teachers. This causes a lack of understanding and respect for students.
In both scenarios, students and teachers don’t care for one another and treat each other as if they were foreign beings. Lack of understanding on one’s side damages the trust, respect, and growth of the others.
This vicious cycle eventually feeds future generations into future criminals causing a lack of safety in not only schools but the nation as a whole.
While private and virtual schools exist, the majority of students attend public schooling and these issues only tend to rise. With heartbreak, comes a time of healing. However, when more are harmed than healed, the process of care becomes a double-edged sword.
As a result, schools become dangerous areas where cold-hearted actions and people only feed on the remains of the pure-hearted. These students mature into adults and live lives of crime and vile action. The country, as a result, becomes corrupted and divided.
For the hopes and dreams of nursing generations, people must come to terms with their past, deal with the situation at hand, and grow a positive life for the inhabitants of America and others beyond today.
In a time where toxicity is corrupting all, no matter how old or young, especially on the internet, we must learn how to create strong and resourceful habits. Students share their experiences with safety in schooling affecting their lives today.
“Yeah, I get anxious if a school shooting happens. They would probably run away, a lot of people became homeschooled because of the danger.” Nicole Fama, a senior, says over her fear of possible dangers in school.
“It changed me a little bit because I could tell my real friends are. As well as what I want to do in the future.” Kayla Belzel, a sophomore, says her exposure to school affected her growth.
In a divided world, people seem as if they are fragile-minded and only agree with who they see. Only out of fear and loss of getting hurt, however, the young must thrive for the old to survive.
If given care, people could be a stronger asset now than ever, out of choice and growth. Pain is not a bifactor of loss, but a result of it.
People must come and rise to a hurt nation, and the broken reality of the world. However, if given the chance, would people rise or fall?
