Ms. Anderson is the 10th-grade counselor here at Coral Glades and she’s a huge help to a lot of students. Whether a student struggles with school or personal issues, Ms. Anderson offers to help no matter the subject. She works with kids, parents, teachers, and generally with her community. She guides students to become successful in life either in academics, their character, emotionally, or with setting their goals. Ms. Anderson was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and is the youngest of her siblings. She was brought up with good morals and was raised under a strong Christian following. During her time growing up in Texas, she owned three horses and competed in showjumping. Since young she’s adored all genres of music and still loves all music genres as of today. “I recommend students listen to different types of music because genres branch off of each other and it’s something to be appreciative of.” said Ms. Anderson.
She went to college in Texas and majored in biology and marketing, her focus was on advertising. Ms. Anderson has twenty-one years of educational experience, eight years of experience teaching middle school science, and thirteen years of counseling experience from counseling pre-k students up to high school students. Ms. Anderson enjoys what she does and feels that “It’s amazing to see how kids mature over time. I like how they go through different stages of learning and growing and I love seeing how their personality develops over time.” She has a twenty-one-year-old daughter and two cats named, “Loki” and “Thor”. Her daughter attended the University of Miami, which is the reason Ms. Anderson moved to Florida!
But outside of her work life she heavily enjoys nature themes and exploring the world. She enjoys a variety of activities such as fishing, camping, and traveling. Most of her hobbies include outdoor-related activities but her favorite is traveling around and experiencing new environments. Ms. Anderson has visited many countries, such as Spain, Italy, Croatia, Venezuela, Mexico, Turkey, Hungary, and Canada and that’s not even all of the locations she’s been to!
Message from the writer: “I’m a new student at Coral Glades, I switched schools midway through November and Ms. Anderson helped me situate a comfortable schedule for myself and made sure I was doing well in my classes during my first weeks and I’m grateful for it. She made sure I was going to enjoy the classes I had set and I’m glad she did cause I currently do enjoy my classes. Ms. Anderson has been nothing but genuine and caring to me and many other students here at Coral Glades, and we are all grateful.”
One quote that Ms. Anderson said she loved was, “If we all do one random act of kindness, we just might set the world in the right direction”
