Aveline Harding is a sophomore here at Coral Glades, who has been an active and upstanding member of the school’s orchestra since her freshman year. Aveline is not only involved in the orchestra, but also many other extracurriculars including, the varsity swim team, keeping track of Mu Alpha Theta as their secretary, and a variety of other clubs and honor societies that could use more dedicated members like her. This goes to show, she can do just about anything.
Focusing more on her musical side, she has a clear talent and passion for the violin, which can often be seen during orchestra concerts, or when select members from the orchestra are chosen to play at school events. Aveline will also periodically return to Sawgrass Springs Middle School in order to aid the young violinists in their school’s orchestra. These kids are the future of music, and she understands that, as she always brings them little gifts or snacks. It’s clear that Aveline understands the importance of establishing the importance of music among the young, while also creating a safe and productive learning environment.
“I have been in Orchestra since 6th grade and through it I’ve been able to meet new people, learn more about music, and become a better musician overall.” says Aveline Harding.
The orchestra seems to be a vital part of Aveline’s life. Through the musical programs, she has been presented with various awards including, a superior (equivalent to an “A” letter grade) in solo and ensemble in 9th grade, with distinction for 10th grade, along with achieving gold at All County Orchestra. When interviewed about her personal feelings over her accomplishments, this is what she said:
“When I got my results for solo and ensemble and All county this year I felt excited about their upcoming events, and grateful that I was able to participate in them at all.”
Overall, orchestra and music have had a profound impact on Aveline Harding as a person. It’s really admirable to see somebody have the talent to achieve all of these amazing things while continuously being able to stay on top of school and other extracurriculars and maintain healthy social relationships. As usual, she remains humble and grateful for all the opportunities the orchestra has given her.
As a closing remark, Harding expresses, “The knowledge I received from orchestra led me to occasionally play at events outside of school.” which has added experiences to her life.
