The 2025 Lacrosse season here at Coral Glades is about to start! The first game was held at home on February 11th, against Western High School.
Our boy’s lacrosse team played 11 games last season and made their best effort throughout the season. Our girl’s lacrosse team also played 8 games last season and had a record of 5 wins and 3 losses. The girl’s team also made it as far as second place in the finals!
The girls had a shorter season because 4 games got canceled on them.
Western High’s boys lacrosse team played 13 games in the 2024 season, they had a total record of 3 wins and 10 losses. Western’s girls lacrosse team played 13 games in the same season and had a total record of 5 wins and 8 losses.
Lacrosse is a sport played outdoors with a stick connected to a net at the end. Men’s and women’s lacrosse have a few slight differences such as the type of helmets/protection, the depth of the net, and the amount of contact allowed.
I talked to the head coach Mr. O’neil, about how he thinks this season will go and he said, “ I am very positive and am excited for this season. I think these teams are going to be good this season.”
We have some incredible coaches who all coach both the boy’s and girls teams. Here is a bit about each one of them!
Coach O’Neil – Has been coaching for 7 years and has brought amazing culture to both teams.
Coach Dom – Was a student here at Coral Glades and played lacrosse as a long stick midfielder during that time and graduated in 2018.
Coach Logan – the attack captain from the class of 2020, has been coaching the boys for three years but this year will help both teams as the offensive coordinator.
Coach Noelle – Is a highly skilled lacrosse player who currently plays for a mens lacrosse league.
Coach Tyler – Is studying to be an emergency medical technician (EMT).
Each one of our amazing coaches is highly talented and deserves the highest of praise.
Senior Abigail Forsyth has been playing lacrosse since freshman year, she plays defense. Abigail is an amazing player and a crucial piece of the team’s culture. I talked to her about what she expects for this season and I also asked what she has learned from playing lacrosse for all 4 years of her high school career.
“Lacrosse helped me find my community as a freshman and I have continued to look forward to it every year I am so excited for my senior season.”
No matter what it is very apparent that lacrosse is a sport that brings people together, motivates the students, and teaches the players valuable lessons about culture and F.A.M.I.L.Y.
F.A.M.I.L.Y. is an acronym that O’Neil uses to remind the players that we are all in this together and at the end of the day we are all a team.
Forget All Mistakes, I Love You.
