With the ending of the 2024 year happening, the Jags basketball team ended the first half of the season strong, ranked top #50 in the state, ending their first half of the season great going 11-5 on the season.
Gavin Reed, sophomore starting point guard, ended the first half of the season, as the team’s leading scorer averaging 11.4 points, Kyler Theopile, junior, starting small forward, leading in rebounds averaging 8.8, and is also leading the team in assists with 4.4, as well as in steals with 2.7 steals per game. Bryan Jean, starting Center, leads the team in blocks with almost 2, at 1.8 blocks per game.
The Coral Glades Basketball team will start the second half of the season, facing off against Cooper City High, this Tuesday which is also senior night. They will then have back-to-back games as they face off against Marjory Stoneman Douglas High this Thursday and then face off against Blanche Ely High right after that on Friday.
The team executes their plays very well to help them score the ball against difficult defenses. The team also knows how to play great defense as well in their sets and they play great team basketball and are all unselfish around each other.
“I think we finished the first half of our season great, we’re ranked number 42 in the state, and number 1 in our districts, we’re even 11-5. If we keep it up the way we’re playing, I think we could win our districts out and we could even go to regionals with the way we are playing and the talent on this team and the team chemistry that we have, I truly believe we’re the best team in Broward County.” Donovan Swain, starting shooting guard, sophomore, number 5.
The team is looking to end the season off great and the team wants to finish out their season strong, going through some tough games but hopes to finish out undefeated for the remainder of the season and win the rest of their tough schedule.
“We just keep going up in the rankings and I love it. I genuinely believe that we are going to win districts this year 100 percent, without a doubt. We’re the best team in our District class and I believe we can compete with some of the best teams in Florida and I believe that for sure.” Anthony Valdes, senior, number 3, 6th man guard.
This well-rounded, all-around, very highly skilled talented team has a very bright future ahead of them and with the winning pace they’re at, who knows what the future has to hold for them.
