The inauguration of President Donald J. Trump just passed, it took place in Washington DC on January 20th, making him the new president of the United States of America. With his new presidency, he has new picks in the cabinet and new members of his presidential administration.
His cabinet picks are Marco Rubio as the Secretary of State, Scott Bessent as the Treasury Secretary, Pam Bondi as the Attorney General, Doug Burgum as the Interior Secretary, Lori Chavez-Deremer as the Labor Secretary, Doug Collins as the Veterans Affairs Secretary, Sean Duffy as the Transportation Secretary, Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence, Jamieson Greer as the U.S trade representative, and Pete Hegseth as the Defense Secretary.
Lori Chavez-Deremer, the Labor Secretary, is a house representative from Oregon. She has a record of strong support from unions in the district, and in a statement, President Trump explains how “Lori’s strong support from both the business and Labor communities will ensure that the Labor department can unite Americans of all backgrounds behind our Agenda for the unappreciated national success- making the American richer, wealthier, stronger, and more prosperous than ever before.”
Scott Bessent, a hedge fund billionaire, is the Treasury Secretary. He is the founder of the hedge fund Key Square Capital Management. “Scott is widely respected as one of the world’s foremost international investors and Geopolitical and economic strategists,” President Trump said about Scott Bessent. “Seeing as the new administration can change the future for Americans around the nation, it is vital that Donald Trump chooses all the right people and he knows what he is doing.”
Pam Bondi, a former Florida attorney General, is the first female attorney General. She formerly served as a member of the Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission in President Trump’s first administration. “Pam Bondi was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on violent criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida families,” President Trump said in an interview. “It is great that there are more and more women in administrations because it proves every day that women can do whatever they want and it does not matter who is their boss, or what job they want,” said Aaliyah O’Keefe, a freshman.
Doug Collins, a former house representative from Georgia, and he is the head of the Department of Veteran Affairs. Trump said in a statement that “Doug is a veteran himself, who currently serves our nation as a chaplain in the United States Air Force reserves command, and fought for our country in the Iraq war. We must take care of our brave men and women in uniform, and Doug will be a great advocate for our active duty servicemembers, veterans, and military families to ensure they have the support they need.”
Doug Collins said that he was honored to accept the nomination for his job.
