With the NBA trade deadline coming to an end, many teams just had huge insane blockbuster trades that will shake up the league and maybe there will be a new NBA finals championship.
To start off the trading this past week, arguably the most insane trade of all NBA history, Anthony Davis and Max Christie were traded for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. All NBA fans and analysts were going crazy about this trade. Fans and everyone around the world are shocked and don’t know what to think.
Nico Harrison, Dallas Mavericks General Manager says, “He believes in defense wins championships”. Mavs fans are happy and sad considering they are giving up the face of the franchise but Lakers fans are also happy and sad because they didn’t have a big man but they now have a top 5 guard and potentially the face of the league soon.
“I feel like both teams benefit from the trade in different ways, the Mavericks just set themselves up to contend for a championship this year, while the Lakers set themselves up to win in the future.” Darrion Livingston, basketball player, Junior.
The next insane trade that happened was De’aaron Fox and Jordan Mcglaughin were both traded to the San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings received, star shooting guard Zach Lavine, Sidy Cissoko, 3 first-round picks, and 3 second-round picks, and the Chicago Bulls received Zach Collins, Kevin Huerter, and Tre Jones and on top of that, a 2025 first-round pick from the Spurs. The Spurs are probably the team that benefits the most from the trade considering that they got an all-star elite caliber point guard.
On February 5th, at around 8:30-9 o’clock, Miami Heat, 4 times NBA All-Star, Jimmy Butler was traded to the Golden State Warriors in a 4 team trade as the Miami Heat received, Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, PJ Tucker, and a 2025 first-round pick, the Utah Jazz receive Dennis Schröder from the Warriors, and the Detroit Pistons receive Lindy Waters III, and Josh Richardson.
The morning of February 6th, another trade report came out that star player from the New Orleans Pelicans, Brandon Ingram was being traded away to the Toronto Raptors for Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk.
“I feel like this might’ve been the craziest trading before the trade deadline the NBA has had in a while. The entire league is about to change and now I really don’t know who’s gonna win it all this year. This second half of the season is going to be a great one to watch and I can’t wait to see the playoffs come around.” Bryan Jean, basketball player and senior.
With the trade deadline coming to an end as of February 6th, 3:00 PM Eastern Time, a bunch of other role players and draft picks were traded as well throughout the past week and teams changed rosters. The NBA is one to watch now for the rest of this season.
