Jag Brag: Anthony Valdes

Senior, number 3, sharpshooting shooting guard/point guard, 6th man rotation player Anthony Valdes played a crucial role in this year’s amazing Coral Glades High School basketball team. Anthony Valdes is a returning player from last year who sadly fell short last year of their district championship run last year, losing to Coral Springs High. Anthony set goals at the beginning of this year’s season to try and achieve by the end of the season. Anthony had a senior run this year averaging 10.0 points per game, 1.7 assists per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, and 0.3 steals per game while averaging 43% from the field goal and shooting 34% from the three-point range.

Anthony has had a course of games where he has had least double digits in points. He has had 14 games where he had double-digit points and 7 consecutive games of those 14 double-digit games.

Anthony’s best game would be against NorthEast High School on January 13, 2025, where he recorded 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal, while shooting 6/11 from the field finishing the game shooting 55%, also shooting 2/5 from the 3 point range, shooting 40% from the 3 point range.

“Anthony means a lot to me. He has helped me in so many ways on the court and off the court. Anytime I need something he is there to help and he is like a brother to me.” Ali Atallah, sophomore basketball player and teammate of Anthony Valdes.

Anthony completed most of his goals like winning districts for the first time, winning his first-ever regional home game as well, and many more.

“I’m glad I came back this year and finished my senior year out with Coral Glades and I’m super happy and proud of the way our team performed this year I think this is Coral Glades best team in school history, 1000%, the best players we’ve had in a while, a great coaching staff and what made us special this year was that we had a bond that no other team in history had like us.” Anthony Valdes, senior guard.

Anthony sadly did fall short of some accomplishments he wanted to get by the end of the season. He came about 200-300 points short of reaching his 1000 points in high school but still succeeded and helped the team win in crucial games that matter. Anthony isn’t afraid of the pressure that comes his way and wherever he is playing, he will play a crucial role in that team’s system and he’s able to adapt right into the team’s system and fit in. Whichever college ends up landing Anthony next year will be lucky to have that guy, he’s a game-changer for teams.
