This is playoff week for your Coral Glades Jaguars Lacrosse teams. On Tuesday night both teams will face off against the Cooper City Cowboys. The girls’ game will be held at 5 pm on our home field, and the boys’ game will be held at 7 pm following the girls.
Both teams have previously taken on Cooper City this season. Both teams have brought home some incredible wins. Most notably senior night, (3/16), where it was evident that the drive and desire to win was in the front of everyone’s minds.
Tuesday was another chance for the same feeling of victory, and the team did not disappoint.
Your girl’s team defeated the in-season rivals with a score of 15-5, taking home an amazing victory in the first round of district playoffs. The game was tough but nothing these girls could not handle. Brianna Brown took Tuesday’s scoring record with four goals during the game.
“It was so amazing watching all of my friends play so well. All of them have grown so much and I am so proud of each and every one of their journeys.” – Miranda Infante, freshman attack/midfield.
Your boy’s team faced a few more challenges throughout the game including multiple injuries (number 22 Ryan Steinburg -ankle, and goalie Joseph Torregrossa – finger, along with number 14 Tyler Gordon) Along with the injury roster that Glades racked up Cooper City also took a hit to one of their players with an ankle injury.
Both teams will advance into the second round of playoffs in the independent district and play once again on Thursday (4/3), away at Cypress Bay High School.
Your Jaguars have already faced off against the Cypress Bay Lightning earlier in the season at home both teams totaled up to a loss but Thursday night is a chance at redemption, where the Jaguars take on the Lightning at home field.
“I am super excited for Thursday’s game, the last time we played against Cypress their girls played dirty. I can’t wait to see how this game goes.” said Camilla Livelli, freshman goalie.
Both teams are fired up and ready to go. The drive is not lost even this late in the season for your amazing players. Because of the result of Thursday night’s game(s), neither team will be advancing to the final round of playoffs.
Your girl’s team played hard and saw much improvement from all players compared to the game against Cypress Bay earlier this season. The same goes for the boys team.
The girl’s score was ultimately 17-5 and the boys added the same score to their record 17-5.
Although both of your teams had a rough night both physically and emotionally, with it being the senior’s last game, there is always some positive to look at.
The boy’s team had their first-ever winning season in Coral Glades High history! Their overall came out to be 6-5. Every player whether they are returning or graduating had an amazing season and deserves all the best things that come their way.
