We all have a favorite sport we would like to play, and for some of us it’s a sport you were meant to play. Either way you find enjoyment playing this sport so if you’re on a team that Isn’t really doing well, it would definitely affect your attitude about the sport. There could be many reasons as to why the team isn’t doing as well as you would Hope, but it all still boils down to the fact that the team isn’t good.
Game after game you guys are losing or coming really close to win but just don’t have what it takes to get the win. This would have almost everyone on the team doubting themselves. And some may even give up trying altogether or they may even stop playing the sport altogether.
It’s not easy being on a losing team, but it also builds confidence and it creates a stronger connection with my fellow teammates. We practice day in and day out giving it our all every chance we get, sometimes it works out and other times it doesn’t but that’s ok as long as we give it our best shot it’s nothing more we could do says, Anna O’Neill junior.
The team you’re on definitely affects how you enjoy a sport, you could have a lot of love for a sport but be on a team that takes the joy away from it. From the coaches not using you to your full potential to the team not wanting to put in the work to be the very best they can be. If you’re on a team that always plays every game and isn’t putting in the work to be better, you would definitely fall out of love with the sport.
If the team you play for isn’t that good but you and your teammates are working hard each week to better the team. Then you would have a lot more motivation to go practice everyday putting in countless hours of work and seeing the progress the team is making would make you fall in love with the sport all over again.
I play for a team that isn’t really doing well at the moment, and I’m not going to lie, there are times where I feel like it’s not worth playing anymore. But I just can’t give up on the sport and my teammates so I just push through, says Jake Jones, freshman.
The team you play for says a lot about how you will perform and the type of person you are. If you’re on a team that’s always losing and seems to be getting worse and worse each game. It starts to reflect on you, and your performance makes you question if you’re really as good as you thought.
