April 24th-26th at 8 pm in Green Bay Wisconsin is the moment all football fans and young players have waited for, the NFL draft. Many young generational talented players are waiting for the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell to call their name up on stage to be selected by one of thirty-two NFL teams. This is every young football player’s dream to be drafted and live their dream.
The first ever NFL draft was on February 8th, 1936 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Ever since then, generational talent has been in and out of this organization while players and fans are looking to continue the amazing growth and talent of this league going on for years and years.
“I was very surprised when there were multiple mock drafts that had Shedeur Sanders going past the 1st round, and then when I watched the actual draft and I saw he didn’t go 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round I couldn’t believe it.” Anthony Valdes, senior.
Now to this year’s NFL draft, many sports analysts, coaches, players, and others all have their different opinions on who’s going first and who should and shouldn’t get drafted to certain teams. But, as of right now, so far it looks like the hometown starting quarterback, coming out of the University of Miami, Cam Ward will be drafted number one in the draft by the Tennessee Titans. Now this is where it gets serious. Many analysts think edge rusher from Penn State University, Abdul Carter will go number two in the draft to the Cleveland Browns. However, multiple other analysts think Heisman winner, 2-way player Colorado Wide Receiver, and Defensive back, Travis Hunter will go number two and Abdul will go three.
I asked fellow sophomore Coral Glades student, Jayce Doctor about how he feels about this upcoming draft happening soon and he said, “Man I can’t wait, this is my favorite moment of the whole entire NFL season and offseason, seeing these young generational talented players getting their names called and hopefully some of them going to my favorite team, I just can’t wait, and I’m super glad that hometown hero Cam Ward is going first and is going to prove all those doubters wrong. Now after the first pick, picks 3-6 will be very interesting to watch and see since many mock drafts have a different order for those guys so, just gonna have to wait and find out.”
The NFL draft is one not to miss as many fans from all over the country sit down or go attend the NFL draft as it’s one of the most shocking, jaw-dropping, catastrophic moments of the NFL, so just sit back, and enjoy the draft.
