Students in the present day make mistakes. Mistakes are common in the real world. However, students have the potential to be or not to be more aware.
Some choose to be, while others do not. However, students tend not to care due to a lack of responsibility or carelessness.
This is due to peer pressure and lack of action. For example, many students are aware of their potential. However, due to no one else making the effort, they decide it’s not worth it.
However, it is that mindset that forms awareness, yet carelessness. However, some are aware and choose to take action.
A decision is not easy to make, but important. Most assume to care is to suffer, seeing someone doing the right thing may seem simple. But, everyone has potential, what matters is their ability to use it.
Empathy today is considered a weakness. Often, meant for the “weak” and “undeserving.” However, it is that care that brought the world to a healthy state.
If not for past figures who cared, the world wouldn’t be the same. It is people who do not care that truly make the world miserable.
Students, like anyone, have a choice. If they choose to make the right one, it will be theirs to make. It is not a weakness, for caring is to know the pain and joy of living, even struggling.
However, some students may be unaware. As a result, it is important to spread messages that will shape not only our students today, but students tomorrow.
This can be done through lessons of integrity and honesty. From experience, many students see these messages and assume one time is enough and they “know” what to do.
But, knowing is one thing, using it is another. If people truly knew, they would apply the lessons. However, because of it being forced, students do not care.
Students should be encouraged to learn, not forced. However, not all will follow. As a result, it is up to teachers and figures to inspire students to help all.
Then, those who make an active choice to care will shine. While not all will, it is their choice to make.
In fact, students share their experiences with active vs inactive choices.
“Not really, I tend to just keep to myself and not have to worry about others; unless it’s something personal happening in my life. Not really just keeping to myself I’m happy with, but others are more open to talk about awareness while I just like to keep it to myself.” Natalia ia Porras, a freshman, says about keeping her own awareness to herself, and how she finds it better to talk about it to herself.
Today, the world is full of liars and carelessness. People know they can change but choose not to out of fear.
Yet, through fear, comes responsibility. Responsibility to do the right thing. If given the chance, shouldn’t we all try?
