Blumhouse Productions, a well-known film production company, is hosting a Halfway to Halloween film festival. The festival is an annual event that celebrates the halfway point to Halloween by re-releasing previous popular horror movies in theatres for a limited time.
The three films that they are bringing back to theatres for this special limited edition are M3GAN, Annabelle, and MA. “These are actually three of my favorite horror movies because they are so interesting and funny at times, and I enjoy the Halloween spirit very much, so this festival that they have seems cool,” Said Rihanna Edwards, a freshman.
Out of all three movies, the movie M3GAN is trending more than the rest because there is soon to be a sequel to M3GAN in the works. Directed by Gerard Johnson, M3GAN is a horror movie that came out in 2022. It is about a lifelike doll named Megan that is programmed to be a child’s companion and a parent’s ally. A robotist, Gemma, creates Megan after becoming the only caregiver of an eight-year-old, and taking care of her gets too complicated for her to deal with. Later, in the movie, Megan turns evil and starts killing innocent people after Gemma loses control of her. This crazy doll is played by Amie Donald, a New Zealand child actor and dancer.
The sequel will be released on June 17th, 2025. The cast of the sequel and some members from the prequel consist of Allison Williams as Gemma, Jenna Davis, and Amie Donald as M3GAN, Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole, and Jen Van Eps as Tess. New casting additions to the sequel are Ivanna Sakhno as the main antagonist, Amelia, and Jemaine Clement as an unknown character.
“M3GAN was the first horror movie I had watched in a while, and it got me back into watching horror movies, and I can not wait to see what the sequel will have,” Said Aaliyah O’Keefe, a freshman.,
Released by John R Leonetti, “Annabelle,” a mystery and horror film, was released on October 3rd, 2014. It is about a husband who goes out of his way to buy his wife a nice gift for his pregnant wife and brings her a vintage doll dressed in a white dress. Devil worshippers invade their home and summon a demon, which turns into the doll, Annabelle. “Annabelle” has a sequel movie called Annabelle Comes Home. The husband, John, is played by Ward Horton, and the wife, Mia, is played by Annabelle Wallis.
The last horror film that is being featured for this festival is Tate Taylor’s “MA.” MA is about a lonely woman who befriends a few high schoolers and lets them party in her basement. She has house rules that do not allow them to curse, go upstairs, orand one must stay sober. Her house soon turns into a nightmare for anyone who enters. Octavia Spencer plays Sue Ann, the lonely woman who goes mad.
