Throughout my 4 long years of high school, I have come to find out that my experience was not as bad as I thought. Soon enough, I will be graduated and on my way to enter the real world, where I can’t mess around anymore.
I think one of the most important parts of high school is having friends. Of course, there will be friends who have a bad influence on you. And friends who make you a better person. The people around you are there to teach you a lesson and to help you navigate the world by making the right decisions. Don’t take your friends for granted.
For my first year as a freshman, I made friends whom I didn’t think I would come to care about. I was always thinking of myself. As sophomore and junior years went by, I realized that there are good friends who made my experience much better. Those are the friends you want to keep long after high school. The friends who make you laugh, help you with your problems, and lead you to better paths.
High school will involve countless aspects that you will hate, but one day you’ll wish you were back there at your little lunch table. The important thing is to relax and take a deep breath. School is not forever and the obstacles in your way are not really obstacles, only lessons to improve you as an individual.
“I learned a lot throughout my school years, especially in high school. I went through a lot of stuff, but it’s an experience I’ll never forget,” said Brandon Bovell, a senior.
Everyone has their own ways of getting through high school. Some of mine I regret, and others made me proud of myself. Don’t be disrespectful towards teachers, don’t think there aren’t consequences to your actions, and don’t be violent whatsoever.
Instead, you should pay attention to what people with experience have to say, always be respectful, and most importantly, grow and learn throughout these years. Don’t waste them.
“I joined Coral Glades High School in the middle of freshman year. The most important thing to get through high school is to just be yourself and make friends. I loved the rest of my high school years because I chose people that I connected with and made the end of my senior year really fun,” said Andres Calderon, a senior.
Looking back, high school was not as serious as I thought it would be. I wish I had let myself enjoy it more instead of taking it so seriously. Have fun and take a second to be grateful for the moment you are in. One day you’ll wish you were back there.
