For the incoming freshman that will be coming to Coral Glades High School here are some does and don’ts to get our school year started of strong, Firstly get to class on time and get a good seat where you can see the board and the teacher well, only go to the bathroom if you need to and don’t go during passing periods there is to many people in there at once, which leads to you needing to wait and most likely being late. One mistake that I made that I will warn you not to do is let your emotions affect your school work or make you do/say something you will regret down the line. If it gets that bad, where you want to say something, talk to your teacher or a guidance counselor.
Junior Jordyn Howels says” If i could go back in time to freshman year i would get better attendance i missed a lot of days of school so my advice to the new kids is dont skip school to lay in your bed school is more important 100 percent.
The study hack I used that I’m passing down to you is only to study if you need to. I feel like if I know the topic and I end up studying it leads to overthinking on the test, leading to me getting questions wrong that I would usually get right. It is important to be involved in something throughout your high school career, and nothing is better than starting your freshman year. Some clubs I would recommend would be Deca, SGA, and Yearbook, but personally, i think it is better to join a sports team since you will make some new friends also keeping you in good shade, they run all year round so you can do more than 1 to stay busy the whole year.
Junior Charlotte Lanzi says, “ If there’s any advice I’d give to a freshman, it would be to take hard classes and keep up with them. I didn’t take a single AICE class my freshman year, and I highly regret that, as it could have helped boost my GPA. Another thing I would
Recommend is not slacking, people say sophmores have a “sophmore slump” and I completely agree with that, just stay on top of your work and try not to miss school no matter how hard it is.”
In conclusion to the incoming freshman you have nothing to be worried about if you do your work. High school will be a breeze but don’t take it as a joke because it will be over in a blink of an eye if you do.
