Dear Coral Glades Highschool,
I am an upcoming senior Graduate of Coral Glades High School. My time has come to an end. In my personal experience, there have been more laughs, memories, tension, and most significantly, progress, than I could have imagined at the beginning. I felt like I was stabbed in the back when I understood how important it is to complete your service hours as I started to approach my senior year. I wasn’t ready, I hope incoming seniors are ready to complete their 40 community service hours before the deadline.
In high school, raiders were one of my favorite events. We attended a competition to see which school has the best JROTC program, as Raiders is a part of it. We sadly finished in sixth position, which means we were defeated. Though I still had a good time overall, I would go back just to relive those times. I made so many new connections in the program, I wish I could stay.
My overall experience in the Newspaper was fun, it was simple and easy. My favorite thing about the class is that the editors wouldn’t bother you as much as Ms. Hodge would about the rough drafts or the five ideas. But just being in that class/club it just was entertaining. I made some new friends in the class who are kind of sad to see me go away because I’m a senior.
A few pointers for future juniors and seniors are to always be on top of your work. Assignment lateness will start to catch up with you because of your other classes. Everything must be set up how you want it, and exercising accountability. As you enter your junior and senior years, responsibility will become your best friend. And always try to make more and new friends.
The good thing about Coral Glades High School is the teachers, mostly some teachers are nice and just a little bit strict about their work being turned in late. They are doing anything willing to help you graduate. The bad thing about Coral Glades High School is the security, they are so annoying when it comes to getting to class on time. They’re just really mean for no reason, always questioning you for some reason. I mean we all get it that’s their job but, give me and the rest of the future people a break at least.
Coral Glades overall is an amazing school to go to, the clubs and the athletics that represent the school are fun. Even the school emblem is nice. Upcoming seniors should be able to vote on what’s the next emblem for 2025. Coral Glades is always a great school when it comes to testing. They take it seriously like the SAT. They offer plenty of college opportunities for future students wanting a college scholarship. Like a Bright Futures scholarship!
I feel bad because, for a long time, I denied myself the activities I enjoy doing to conform to a story I made up about myself. I’m excited to graduate from high school with a greater sense of fulfillment and happiness than I had during my previous three years. After all these years of feeling so alone, everything seems to have finally gone full circle.
At last, I am happy with the person I have become and the life I have chosen. Both Ms. Waite and the individuals I’ve come to know here have changed me; I wouldn’t be the same without them.
I am aware that I will reflect on my time in high school. And I will miss every single second of it.
Sincerely,
Kevin Michael Deas Jr.
