Life is tough, but there are so many things to be grateful for and appreciate. It’s the little things that give us the dopamine we need to continue going through our daily lives with a smile on our faces. For some people, sports is what makes each day a little bit easier.
Sports can be extremely important not only for the players but also, for the people watching the games. Taking the time to analyze yourself and understand what makes you truly happy, and what gives you the excitement and the energy to continue going through your day has a substantial effect on your overall mental health.
For some people it’s sports. After school is over they just need to take some time for themselves.
It has been proven that participating in school sports gives students a sense of control in their lives, Whether it be control over themself or control of their actions. Along with this, the list of psychological benefits goes on and on.
Now how about the spectators? How are they benefited by the school sports even if they don’t participate?
For starters, it can be relaxing, if students watch a team game with friends or family they have the ability to forget about their problems, their homework, and impending deadlines while getting to spend some quality time with loved ones.
Therefore increasing their sense of community, and positive experiences with peers.
All people whether die-hard sports fans or those who barely know the team name, everyone loves to identify themselves with a sports team. Especially one for their school, city, state, etc. So when the student can say that they went to the football, soccer, baseball, etc. The game brings out a sense of pride.
I asked Gabrielle Suarez, a freshman on the Jag girls soccer team, how she thinks that playing soccer affects her, she told me “I like it. It gives me something to do while being active. I have played soccer for years on a travel team and this year on the school team as well. It’s just really amazing for me.”
I asked Miranda Infante, a Freshman, what she likes about watching school sports and she told me, “I like watching school sports when I go with my friends. It gives us a chance to talk and hang out even if I don’t see them in class.”
Playing and watching school sports is very important not only for the school but also for the players and students mental health. Overall, There are many reasons that sports are important. So keep up with all of Jag sports in the upcoming seasons.
