We have all missed days of school whether it’s because you’re sick or just didn’t feel like going. We have all been there, you always wonder if you missed any important announcements while you were gone. Well, you’re in luck because on social media you can find all these announcements on the school’s Instagram page.
With just two clicks you can see what’s happening around your school, from upcoming school events to sudden changes that occur at school. Although many people don’t agree that social media can be beneficial, there are times it’s been proven that it is. For instance, when I missed a day of school and found out through an Instagram post that the next day was picture day, if I didn’t come across this post I would have missed the chance to get my pictures taken. Times like that I’m really grateful that my school has its own social media accounts.
Social media is a big part of this generation so to keep us students engaged in what’s going on at school, posting about it really is the best way to inform us about what’s going on at school. This also serves as a reminder for students who have forgotten about an important event or just a fun way to show off some of the fun things that go on at Coral Glades High School.
Social media is the news station for this generation, if you have an important message to share with students a simple post will do just that. Just a month ago when the hurricanes were closing schools all around Florida most kids knew about it through social media before schools got the chance to make phone calls stating the closures.
Schools’ social media accounts are like a time capsule, you get to see what has been done throughout all the years. You could see all the fun things you have done throughout the year, having something to look back on whenever you’re remembering your high school years. This is something many people wish they had when they were in school.
“When I leave school I know I can look back on all the fun things I did when I was here. This is why I think social media benefits communication in schools,” says Jake Miller Junior. There are times when I think that my high school year isn’t going to be documented enough. So the thought of just being able to just log onto Instagram and seeing all the fun memories that were created.
But of course like everything there are bad effects, like “…spreading wrong information or even sharing bad pictures or videos of each other”, says Jayden Williams, freshman.
