Well, not exactly. Your graduating class council does a lot. Such as organizing events, fundraising tasks, and socials, and are in charge of raising money for your senior year activities.
Do you want an amazing prom? How about graduation? Do you want class rings? What is going to make your graduation class have the best year yet?
Anything that you want to do will cost money and a lot of it. This is what your class council each year is working towards. Being an active member in your class will only benefit you in the long run.
When you participate in fundraisers for your graduating class you are putting that money towards events that you can all participate in. For example, prom. Prom is not cheap, so through fundraising a percentage of the money will go towards prom. Some money will go to graduation, some will go towards grad bash, and some will go to any other events that your council decides to host.
Having a good time is important. Not just for your mental health but also for your school life. Finding a healthy balance between work, school, and fun is very important for students.
Daniella Concepcion told me that, “I did a ton of clubs at my middle school so continuing that in high school wasn’t that hard for me, but now that I’m starting to practice with lacrosse the amount of clubs and time I get to just lay around and hang out with my friends has gotten a bit smaller.” Daniella is a Freshman and 24-25 lacrosse season hopeful.
Finding this balance is a necessary part of a student’s life. Being an active member in your class club is just as important as having fun. Participating in fundraisers, going to socials, and helping out with events will make it better for you and all of those around you at the end of your high school career.
Gabrielle Suarez, freshman on the Class of 2028 council said, “I am super excited to be on this year’s class council. I am doing it because not only does it allow me to spend more time with good friends but it gives me the opportunity to help be in charge of what we as a class do.”
Gabrielle also plays soccer for the school and a travel team, along with having all honors or AICE classes. Showing that just because you may have hard classes and little time to have fun, doing things that can benefit you and your peers in the future is vital.
Overall, the goal of your graduating class’s council is to make sure that you all can have an amazing high school experience, but this is impossible to do without the support and participation of the students from each class.
So get involved. Follow your class on Instagram and be an active member! Go to the meetings, go to socials, help out with fundraisers! There are an incredible amount of ways you can participate.
