Gavin Reed is a highly talented combo guard and true point guard prospect in the class of 2027. As a sophomore, he is already making a name for himself at Coral Glades High School, where he is a starter on the varsity team.
In his freshman year, Gavin Reed showed impressive statistics, averaging 7.0 points, 2.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 44% from the field and 40% from beyond the three-point line. This was no easy feat, as he was playing behind three teammates who have since gone on to play college basketball.
As a leader alongside fellow starters Kyler Theopile (6’5″) and Ali Atallah (6’4″), Gavin Reed has continued to elevate his game in his sophomore year. So far this season, he has averaged 11 points, 3.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. He has also already scored 100 points in just nine games.
While his field goal percentage has decreased slightly to 41%, Gavin Reed is looking to improve his shooting percentages moving forward. With his impressive statistics and leadership abilities, he is poised to lead his team to district championships and potentially even regionals.
“His dedication and work ethic for the game of basketball is different from everyone else. His love for the game is impeccable. I’ve known him since like the 1st grade and his work ethic and passion haven’t changed since, he keeps this passion and love for the game with this work ethic, he can go far in today’s game” Donovan Swain, best friend and teammate of Gavin.
He really has a deeper meaning of the game than a lot of people really do. Gavin’s work ethic and love for the game plus his amazing ball handling skills and IQ has helped him be an overachiever and has helped him receive many D1 interest from schools like Rice, University of New Orleans, University of Lafayette, and more to come.
“I just really love the game, all I ever want to do is just play basketball. This isn’t just some game to me, it’s my life, I want to make it far in this game and keep going for me and my family.” said Reed.
Gavin Reed’s future is very bright if he stays on this trajectory, with his teammates by his side, his impressive stats, his work ethic, and his passion for the game. Gavin will be a problem and threat to all of South Florida.
