The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an organization that honors high school students who excel in career and technical education (CTE) courses. These classes are designed to teach students real-world skills and give them hands-on experience in various technical fields. Some of these include health science, engineering, car repair, computer technology, culinary arts, cosmetology, and many others that are important in today’s workforce.
Coral Glades High School is one of thousands of schools across the United States where students enrolled in CTE programs can become members of the National Technical Honor Society. Through dedication, effort, and a commitment to excellence, students at Coral Glades can earn this special recognition. NTHS is a way to celebrate students who show leadership, talent, and a strong work ethic in their area of study. I asked a member of NTHS, Arianna Velazquez, how she likes the club, and she said, “The club is great, it is the first club I joined here at Coral Glades and I am so glad I did.”
To qualify for membership in NTHS, students at Coral Glades High School must meet certain requirements. First, they must have at least a 3.0 GPA. They must also be enrolled in a CTE class at Coral Glades and show a positive attitude and good character. A recommendation from a teacher is required as well. In some cases, other factors like attendance, involvement in community service, and overall school behavior may be considered when determining eligibility.
There are many great reasons why Coral Glades students should consider joining NTHS. One of the biggest benefits is that students are recognized for their accomplishments and efforts.
NTHS members also have access to scholarships that are only available to those in the organization. Being a part of NTHS looks great on a college application or resume and shows that you are committed to your future goals. Members can connect with other hardworking students and professionals and may also learn about internships, job openings, and other career opportunities. I also asked Coral Glades student Anthony Valdes, what he thinks about NTHS, he said, “I think the program is a good fit for students that want to start joining clubs. It’s a great way to get involved and show you care about your future.”
Today, there is a growing demand for skilled workers in all kinds of technical careers. Fields like technology, health care, automotive repair, and skilled trades are growing quickly. At Coral Glades High School, the National Technical Honor Society honors students preparing to enter these fields and make a difference. Becoming a member of NTHS allows Coral Glades students to be rewarded for their hard work, leadership, and dedication. It is a powerful step toward building a strong, successful future in the career path they are passionate about.
