New Horror Movie: Tarot

“Friends unwittingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within a cursed deck of tarot cards”.
New Horror Movie: Tarot

Tarot is a horror movie that has released its first trailer. It is about a group of teenagers who break a sacred rule of Tarot card reading and suffer gruesome fates. The movie’s cast includes actors such as Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, Jacob Batalon, and Larsen Thompson.

The trailer shows that Tarot has similarities with A24’s Talk To Me. Both movies feature teenagers playing with dangerous forces and unleashing evil upon themselves. However, Tarot distinguishes itself by incorporating Tarot cards instead of a spirit-communicating hand.

Mirtha Cruz, a Senior said, “When I first saw the trailer it looked pretty, it reminded me a lot of the Movie Talk to Me which I enjoy, in watching the trailer I saw stars that have been in other movies before which got me excited to watch it “

The cast of Tarot is talented, as evident from their past work. Batalon, who is the most well-known of the lot, played Ned Leeds in the cast of the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy. Slater appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Bradley in Wrong Turn and The 100, Avantika starred in the 2024 Mean Girls remake, and Thompson featured in Mike Flanagan’s The Midnight Club on Netflix.

Talk To Me was a huge box office success, earning over $92 million. Tarot was made on a budget of just $4.5 million. However, audiences shouldn’t get too attached to any of Tarot’s characters. Each one becomes a target of a different dark entity, and not everyone will make it until the end credits. The trailer shows that different figures from the Tarot cards, including a witch-like figure called the High Priestess and another that looks like a jester, will come to life to hunt their victims.

Jayla Dorian, the Senior, said, “I’m not a fan when it comes to horror movies, don’t get me wrong so movies can be good for instance the movie It, which was scary in a way but also funny, which helps in my opinion help a lot when it came to easing the Horror of the movie which is something I like. I couldn’t say I would go out of my way to watch it, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Hopefully, more about Tarot will be revealed in the months leading up to its May 10 release date.
