Most students do not see the value of extracurricular activities or think they are corny, but as it happens, clubs and activities are beneficial during school and after. Schools always encourage their students to join extracurricular activities to offer them many opportunities for different things they might be interested in.
Clubs can also encourage students to focus on earning stellar grades because they must maintain a certain GPA to stay in the club. A student who is involved in a club would make sure to get their work done so they can stay in the club they love so much.
Working out a balance between their work and life outside of school is another thing students can learn by figuring out how to manage their schoolwork and activities for their clubs. “Based on the past clubs that I have been in, they definitely help me manage my homework and what I need to do outside of school,” Sophia Clavero, a freshman said.
Volunteer service hours are the next big opportunity that some clubs offer if students show up and participate in specific activities. Service hours are important for students because it’s a requirement to graduate so having these opportunities to earn hours is another benefit of school clubs.
Other than what clubs can offer, students can have physical and mental growth from the clubs they join. Most clubs encourage students to engage physically, such as dance, or theater where students are active with their bodies. “School clubs are very efficient for learning things other than academics.”, Rihanna Edwards, a freshman said.
Some students may find their club to be a break from stressful things going on in their lives, so extracurriculars can be better for their mental health.
Most importantly, school clubs are very fun for the students who are interested in the clubs they join. When you are interested in the club it gives you a break from school to participate in activities that are fun and enjoyable. Clubs also boost creativity skills for students who lack those skills and may need certain skills for when they are older. There are many opportunities for students to grow and develop in many ways that benefit them.
Extracurriculars are a fantastic way to make and strengthen social relationships between students and try new things to develop skills so students can boost their self-esteem so they can learn about their interests and figure out what they want to do throughout high school. It is easy to make friends when joining a club because the people who are there most likely have the same interests.
Time flies fast and students are seniors before they know it, so clubs are a wonderful opportunity to figure out what they want to do after or during college.
