Sophomore Year is Underrated

Sophomore+Year+is+Underrated

Sophomore year is extremely important not only academically but socially.

One of the main reasons why sophomore year in high school is so important is because sophomores have to start or continue preparing for college.  During sophomore year, students start exploring college options and figuring out their potential career goals and paths. They also have to take big test tests like the PSAT to prepare for the SAT and or ACT.

Your first two years in high school count towards your GPA for the junior year which colleges look at immediately

Sophomore year is underrated because it’s a little harder than freshman year but doesn’t even come close to what junior year has to come.

It’s when most teens turn 16 and 17 and obtain their driver’s license and a job to support themselves financially.

I work at a local grocery store (Publix) every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 4 pm to 10:45 pm all in hopes of purchasing my first car before the start of my junior year next august and financially supporting myself as a junior year and years to come will be extremely costly.

While all of this is happening I still maintain my 3.5 GPA and all good grades which many students are not so good at.

Sophomore year is a mess because you don’t know what you want to do in the future or it’s constantly changing. You are going to have to deal with teachers giving you piles of work that is “due the next class” and staying up late to finish that work but it’s all happening to get you prepared for the future and what it has to offer

Going back to what I originally said sophomore year is socially important because that’s when you find out who your friends are and when you start to create bonds with teachers, staff, and classmates. Sophomore year has taught me all of this whether I had to learn it the easy or hard way.

My sophomore year has been pretty good, I’ve learned who my real friends are many times I had to learn the hard way but not only that I’ve found a sport that I love and have become extremely talented at which is track and I’ve tried out for other sports such as volleyball, swimming, and cross country many I made the team them figured out I had no real interest in and just stuck with the track.

One club I’m thankful for joining is the newspaper i’ve met some friends in that class that I’m extremely grateful for and I can honestly say I’ve learned a lot from that class not just by improving my social skills but also my writing ability and just the friendships I’ve created through my newspaper class and I’m extremely grateful for it.

In conclusion, not everyone is going to be great at the track or waking up every morning at 5 am or working every other night at a store till closing hours and then going home and doing homework but you just have to try new things, and find what works for YOU and do what you love because that’s what high schools all about, trying new things!
